About Mina Zeighami | Founder, Designer and Multidisciplinary Artist

My love for design began in childhood, watching my mother transform our homes in Tehran with her collection of one-of-a-kind rugs, furniture, art, and beautiful objects. Her eye for quality, character, and detail taught me early on that a home is not only about how it looks, but how it makes you feel.

That early influence led me to study Interior Architecture at the University of Tehran and, after moving to Canada, Interior Design at Toronto Metropolitan University, formerly Ryerson University. I later completed postgraduate studies in Building Information Modeling Management at George Brown College.

In 2015, I founded Design by Azure as a space for my passion for design and creativity to evolve. My work spans residential and commercial interiors, from concept and construction to furnishings and styling, while also exploring creativity beyond interiors through mixed media and storytelling. From jewelry and whimsical watercolor portraits to photography, collage, textiles, and found materials, I enjoy blending different techniques to create pieces that are expressive, personal, and tell a story.

Beyond my design practice, I was actively involved with the Decorators & Designers Association of Canada (DDA Canada) from 2020 to 2025, contributing to the Awards and Marketing Committees and serving as Membership Chair. Since 2024, I have also been teaching Window Treatments and Soft Furnishings at George Brown College, sharing my industry experience with the next generation of designers.

During one of my family's most difficult chapters, while taking time away from work to care for my mother during her treatment for AL amyloidosis, once again creating became a source of mindfulness, healing, and connection.

Today, Design by Azure brings all of these chapters together: interior design, art, jewelry, photography, mixed media, storytelling, teaching, career consulting, and whatever creative experiences may come next.

At its heart, it all goes back to that little girl in Tehran, watching her mother turn beautiful objects into a home.
